How to Install Plank Flooring in a Mobile Home

Installing plank flooring in a mobile home is a fairly straightforward process that can be completed in a few days. With a little preparation and the right tools, you can give your mobile home a beautiful and durable new floor. ### Materials you'll need: - Plank flooring - Underlayment - Adhesive - Saw - Tape measure - Level - Chalk line - Spacers - Flooring roller ### Step 1: Prepare the subfloor The first step is to prepare the subfloor by making sure it is level and smooth. If the subfloor is not level, you will need to level it using a self-leveling compound. Once the subfloor is level, you will need to install underlayment. Underlayment helps to reduce noise and insulate the floor. ### Step 2: Install the underlayment Roll out the underlayment over the subfloor, making sure that the seams are overlapped by at least 2 inches. Tape the seams together with duct tape. ### Step 3: Install the first row of planks Start by measuring and marking the center of the room. Snap a chalk line down the center of the room. This will be your guide for installing the first row of planks. Apply a bead of adhesive to the back of the first plank and press it into place on the underlayment, starting at the center of the room. Make sure that the plank is level and flush with the chalk line. Continue installing the first row of planks, working out from the center of the room. Be sure to stagger the joints between the planks. ### Step 4: Install the remaining rows of planks Once the first row of planks is installed, you can start installing the remaining rows. Apply a bead of adhesive to the back of each plank and press it into place on the underlayment. Make sure that the planks are level and flush with the previous row. Continue installing the planks until you reach the end of the room. If you need to cut a plank to fit, use a saw to cut it to the desired length. ### Step 5: Finish the installation Once all of the planks are installed, you will need to finish the installation by rolling the floor with a flooring roller. This will help to press the planks into place and ensure that they are securely attached to the underlayment. Allow the adhesive to dry for at least 24 hours before walking on the floor. Installing plank flooring in a mobile home is a relatively easy project that can be completed in a few days. With a little preparation and the right tools, you can give your mobile home a beautiful and durable new floor.
