Step 1: Preparation

Before you begin installing the hardwood flooring, you need to prepare the stairs.

Sand the hardwood flooring with a sanding block or electric sander.

Apply a coat of polyurethane to the hardwood flooring.

Allow the polyurethane to dry completely.
