Installing Amtico Marine Flooring: An Essential Guide

Amtico Marine Flooring is a premium flooring solution designed to withstand the harsh conditions found on boats and other marine vessels. Its durability, water resistance, and aesthetic appeal make it a popular choice among boat owners. Installing Amtico Marine Flooring requires specific techniques and materials to ensure a successful and long-lasting result.

Planning and Preparation

Before starting the installation, it is crucial to plan the layout and prepare the substrate. Measure the area to be covered and purchase the required amount of flooring. Ensure that the subfloor is clean, flat, and dry. Any unevenness or moisture can compromise the integrity of the installation.

Materials Required

In addition to the Amtico Marine Flooring, the installation will require several other materials. These include:

  • Adhesive
  • Primer
  • Trowel
  • Spacers
  • Utility knife

Application of Primer

Apply a thin layer of Amtico Marine Primer to the prepared subfloor using a trowel. Allow the primer to dry completely, as specified in the manufacturer's instructions.

Adhesive Application

Spread a thin layer of Amtico Marine Adhesive onto the primed subfloor using a trowel. Work in small sections to prevent the adhesive from drying out. Ensure that the adhesive is applied evenly and covers the entire surface.

Laying the Flooring

Carefully place the Amtico Marine Flooring planks onto the adhesive. Use spacers to maintain consistent gaps between the planks. Press down firmly to ensure a secure bond. Trim the edges of the planks using a utility knife where necessary.

Grouting and Sealing

Once the flooring is in place, fill the joints between the planks with Amtico Marine Grout. Use a grout float to spread and smooth the grout. Allow the grout to cure for the recommended time. Apply a sealant to protect the grout and flooring from moisture and stains.

Finishing Touches

Remove any excess grout and sealant from the surface of the flooring. Allow the installation to fully cure for the recommended time before subjecting it to heavy use. Regularly cleaning and maintaining the Amtico Marine Flooring will help to ensure its longevity and beauty.
