How to Install Laminate Flooring Door Threshold

Installing a laminate flooring door threshold is an essential step in completing any laminate flooring installation. Materials You'll Need:

Laminate flooring door threshold
Laminate flooring underlayment
T-molding
Nail gun or hammer and nails
Carpenter's square
Measuring tape
Saw or utility knife

Step 1: Prepare the Doorway

Remove any existing door threshold or trim. Clean the area thoroughly to ensure that it is free of dirt, debris, and any adhesive residue. Measure the width of the doorway and add 1 inch to this measurement. This will be the length of the threshold you need.

Step 2: Install the Underlayment

Place the laminate flooring underlayment over the subfloor and trim it to fit the doorway. The underlayment will help to cushion the flooring and reduce noise. Make sure the underlayment is flush with the subfloor and that there are no gaps around the perimeter.

Step 3: Cut the Threshold

Measure and mark the length of the threshold you need. Use a saw or utility knife to cut the threshold to the desired length. If you are using a T-molding, cut it to the same length as the threshold.

Step 4: Install the Threshold

Place the threshold over the underlayment and align it flush with the edge of the laminate flooring. Secure the threshold to the subfloor using a nail gun or hammer and nails. Space the nails evenly along the length of the threshold.

Step 5: Install the T-molding

Optional: If you are using T-molding, place it over the gap between the laminate flooring and the threshold. Align the T-molding flush with both surfaces and secure it using a nail gun or hammer and nails.

Step 6: Finish the Installation
