How to Install Allure Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring
Allure luxury vinyl plank flooring is a popular choice for homeowners who want the look of wood or tile without the high cost and maintenance. It is relatively easy to install and can be done by do-it-yourselfers with a few basic tools.
Materials Needed:
- Allure luxury vinyl plank flooring
- Measuring tape
- Utility knife
- Pry bar
- Hammer
- Underlayment (optional)
Step 1: Prepare the Subfloor
The subfloor must be smooth, level, and dry. If the subfloor is not level, it can be leveled with a self-leveling compound. If the subfloor is not dry, it can be sealed with a vapor barrier.
Step 2: Install the Underlayment (Optional)
An underlayment is not required, but it can help to reduce noise and improve the comfort of the floor. If you decide to install an underlayment, place it over the subfloor and secure it with tape or staples.
Step 3: Measure and Cut the Planks
Measure the area where you will be installing the flooring and cut the planks to size using a utility knife. Be sure to leave a 1/4-inch gap around the perimeter of the room for expansion.
Step 4: Install the First Row
Start by installing the first row of planks along one of the long walls of the room. Align the planks with the wall and tap them together with a hammer. Be sure to stagger the end joints of the planks.
Step 5: Continue Installing the Planks
Continue installing the planks row by row, working your way across the room. Tap the planks together with a hammer and use a pry bar to gently lift the planks into place if necessary.
Step 6: Trim the Last Row
The last row of planks may need to be trimmed to fit. Measure the length of the space and cut the planks to size. Tap the planks into place and use a pry bar to gently lift the planks into place if necessary.
Step 7: Finish the Floor
Once the flooring is installed, you can finish it with a molding or baseboard. You can also add a rug to define the space and add comfort.
Tips:
* Be sure to read the manufacturer's instructions before you begin installing the flooring. * Allow the flooring to acclimate to the room temperature for 24 hours before installing it. * Use a tapping block to protect the planks from damage when tapping them together. * If you make a mistake, don't worry. You can easily remove the planks and start over. How To Install Allure Easy Lock Lvt Flooring
