Repair Light Scratches on Laminate Flooring
Laminate flooring is a popular choice for its durability and affordability. However, it can be susceptible to scratches, especially from furniture or pet claws. Fortunately, light scratches can be repaired relatively easily with a few simple steps.
Materials Needed:
- Clean cloth
- Rubbing alcohol
- Laminate flooring repair wax or crayon
- Hairdryer (optional)
- Soft cloth
Instructions:
1. Clean the Scratch:Use a clean cloth dampened with rubbing alcohol to clean the scratch and remove any dirt or debris. Allow the area to dry completely.
2. Apply Repair Wax or Crayon:Choose a laminate repair wax or crayon that matches the color of your flooring. Rub the product into the scratch in the direction of the grain. Fill the scratch completely.
3. Remove Excess Wax or Crayon:Use a soft cloth to remove any excess wax or crayon that may have squeezed out of the scratch. Be careful not to scratch the surrounding area.
4. Heat the Wax (Optional):To make the repair more durable, you can gently heat the wax with a hairdryer. Hold the hairdryer about 6 inches away from the scratch and heat for a few seconds until the wax softens.
5. Buff the Area:Once the wax has cooled, buff the area with a soft cloth to smooth out the surface and remove any excess residue. The scratch should now be less noticeable.
