How to Cut Laminate Flooring Around Door
Installing laminate flooring is a relatively straightforward task, but there are a few challenges that can arise, such as cutting around doors. With the right tools and a little patience, however, you can get a professional-looking finish every time. Here are the steps on how to cut laminate flooring around door:
1. Measure and mark the door frame
The first step is to measure and mark the door frame. This will help you determine the size and shape of the cut you need to make in the laminate flooring. Use a tape measure to measure the width of the door frame from the outside edge of one jamb to the outside edge of the other jamb. Then, measure the height of the door frame from the bottom of the threshold to the top of the doorjamb. Mark these measurements on the laminate flooring using a pencil.
2. Cut the laminate flooring
Once you have marked the laminate flooring, you need to cut it. You can use a jigsaw or a circular saw to make the cut. If you are using a jigsaw, be sure to use a fine-toothed blade to avoid chipping the laminate. If you are using a circular saw, be sure to set the blade depth to the thickness of the laminate flooring.
3. Test the fit
Before you install the laminate flooring, test the fit to make sure that it is correct. Place the cut piece of laminate flooring in the doorway and check to see if it fits snugly. If it does not fit, you may need to adjust the cut. Once you are satisfied with the fit, you can install the laminate flooring.
4. Install the laminate flooring
To install the laminate flooring, start by placing the first piece in the corner of the room. Then, continue to install the laminate flooring, one piece at a time, until you reach the doorway. When you get to the doorway, place the cut piece of laminate flooring in place. Tap the laminate flooring into place using a tapping block and a hammer.
5. Finish the installation
Once the laminate flooring is installed, you can finish the installation by adding baseboards and moldings. Baseboards will cover the gap between the laminate flooring and the wall, and moldings will add a decorative touch to the installation.
